On My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding they always talk about people discriminating against gypsies in the US, but I have never in my life ever heard of anyone being a gypsy or being discriminated for being a gypsy in the US. I’ve heard of it in Ireland when I’ve visited, but never in the US. Is it a southern thing or something? Everyone on the show seems to be from Virginia, the Carolinas, etc, all the southern states, but then the dress maker is in Boston, and you think she’d have more business if she was closer to the gypsy population. So then are they all over and not just in the south? But then why haven’t I heard of them being around before? I get that they might be afraid of discrimination, but to discriminate you have to know they’re there. Man, I’m either stupid, naive, or just uneducated.
